Shimoga is a city in the district of shimoga and lies in the central part of Karnataka and this shimoga is on the banks of Tunga River. The name shimoga came from Shiva moga in which moga means face and the meaning is face of Shiva. In 2006 the separate district shimoga is formed by the government of Karnataka along with nine other cities in the state of Karnataka. The climate in shimoga is little hot and during summer the temperature crosses 36 degree centigrade in shimoga. Shimoga is known as cultural capital of Karnataka and it is also called as rice bowl of the state with modern and warmhearted people in it. The language spoken here is Kannada and there are some people who speak Urdu. Shimoga has many industries in it like alloys and casting industries, this place is a manufacturing hub of many and they are exported to various parts from this place. In shimoga the main crop is arecanut, and other crops that are grown here are rice, coconut and chili.
