Mandya is an administrative district In Karnataka and it borders on the south by Mysore district, on the west by Hassan district, north by tumkur district, and east by ramanagara district. This district is formed in 1939 and the name is given by the town and it is the district headquarters. People believe that the name is originated from Mandhavya a holy man who lives in that area in ancient times. The history of Mandya is closely related to that of Mysore state. This district is ruled by Ganga dynasty, choals, and vijayanagara rulers. The area in the district is plain except a few outcrops of rocks. There are four rivers Cauvery, Hemavati, lokapavani and shimsha that give both religious and scenic beauty to the district. The district has famous sugar factory and this is one of the biggest in India now. There are many temples in the district which are visited by many devotees and offered prayers.
