It is a city lying in northwestern direction of Indian state, Uttar Pradesh. It is situated in northwestern direction of Moradabad district just nearby Sot River. Amroha is the secretarial headquarters of one of the most famous districts, Jyotiba Phule Nagar. It is situated at 28.92N 78.47E. The average elevation of this town is 211 meters, which is about 692 feet. This town is joined by vast network of railway with Delhi and Moradabad. This town is also joined with National Highway 24. According to the Indian census of 2001, the population of Amroha was 2, 64,890. Males and females constitute 53% and 47% of the population respectively. The average literacy rate of this town is 64%, which is greater than the average literacy rate of the nation, which is about 59.5%. The literacy rates of males and females are 79% and 51% respectively. The remaining 15% of the population is below the age of six years. As far as the economy of Amroha is concerned, this town is famous for the trade of mangoes, sugar milling, pottery making, wood handicrafts, carpet manufacturing and cotton cloth.
