Gorakhpur is a city in the Uttar Pradesh state and lies in the north eastern side of the state, there are few products of minerals which are mined here, bricks are made here as there is abundant of brick clay available. Chandra Gupta Maurya the king of Mauryas was born in Gorakhpur, this place got the major damage in the year 1934 when an earthquake occurred, another major event was the arrest of Jawaharlal Nehru in this place.

This place was earlier famous for the handloom industry called the hathkargha, this place also has an industrial area named the GIDA Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority. The North Eastern Railways headquarters is in Gorakhpur, they have their own broadcasting centers of the Doordarshan and All India Radio.

The staple food of the people here is rice and the place is involved in the arts like wood carving, terracotta and stonemasonry. The folk dance and folk songs are a favorite pass time for the people after a hard days work. People like to watch movies here and this place has amusement parks, water park named Neer Nikunj, Ramgarh lake, Panth Park, Whee park and many more parks. It also has a planetarium, rail museum and many places to hang out.
