It is a municipal council and a small town of district Yavatmal situated in Maharashtra state in India. According to the Indian census of 2001, the total population of city was 23,360. Male posses 52% of total while female posses 48% of population. The average literacy rate of city is 80 percent which is higher than the national rate of literacy. The people of city are well aware with the importance of education hence numbers of government as well as private colleges are situated in city. Their main aim is to provide best level of education. Junior colleges of art, science and commerce are situated in town and apart from these; there are few BED/DED, ITI colleges, Pharmacy and agriculture colleges. The inhabitants of this place are well aware about their future hence they establish numbers of colleges within their boundaries. The people are educated but still they are unemployed. For their survival they are totally depends on agriculture. Government should provide some good job opportunity to the inhabitants of this particular place. The place is well connected by nearby towns like Amravati, Pusad, and Yavatmal by road. The place is famous for its foods and for its temples too. Few famous temples are situated in this place such as Ambadevi Temple, Mallikarjun Temple and Chintamani Temple.
