The city of Songadh has been split into two parts, Junagam, the old town and Navagam, the new town. In recent years because of industrialisation and rapid expansion of trade, Navagam has developed more than Junagam. The Bus terminal in Navagam has made it an extremely busy and noisy part of the city as it acts as the hub of all the state border busses to Surat. This transportation advancement has also helped in bringing a lot of trade and tourists to the place that adds to the economic growth of the place. Males constitute 51% while female constitute 49% of the total population. While competing with the nearby tehsil, Vyara, Songadh has lost it because the industrial growth of Vyara has been faster and thus it was chosen as the headquarters of the Tapi district. |
