King Kothi Palace
The King Kothi Palace is also known as the Nazri Bagh. It was here that VIIth Nizam, Osman Ali Khan, Asaf Jah VII lived.
Architecture
Similar to many palaces and buildings built by the Nizams of this period, this palace also had a mixture of both European traditions as well as the Islamic and Hindu concepts of architecture. The outcome of the architecture is that it is very Hyderabadi in nature and also very pleasing to lovers of both architectural styles.
History
The King Kothi Palace was built by Kamal Khan. It was later sold to the Nizam when he expressed his wish for the palace. He moved into the palace at the young age of 13. When he ascended the throne in the year 1911, he still stayed at the palace. He did not shift to the Chowmahalla Palace where his father once lived.
The palace was originally constructed for using it as his personal residence. It was for this reason that all the places in the palace were engraved with letters 'K K'. On purchasing the palace, he passed a farman and changed the abbreviation 'K K' to 'King Kothi,' which meant the king mansion. It was because of this feat that the palace got its present name.
