Neermahal
Neermahal is a beautiful palace situated in the centre of Rudrasagar Lake located 53 kilometres from Agartala which is also a capital of Tripura. Neermahal means palace of water constructed in 1930 by the king Bir Bikram Kishore Debbarman previously was the empire of Tripura.
All together, there are only main two water palaces situated in India i.e. Neermahal and Jalmahal. After Jalmahal of Jaipur in Rajasthan, Neermahal falls under the 2nd largest palace of India and conquers the first position in eastern India.
Neermahal was built as a Mahal to spend time in summers, it is recognised as the Lake Palace of Tripura. King Bir Bikram Kishore was very keen to construct the palace in the centre of Rudrasagar Lake. In 1921 the project of constructing this beautiful citadel was handed over to Martin and Burn from the British Company which took nine whole years to put together Neermahal.
History
King Bir Bikram Bahadur comes from the Manikya Empire which is well known as the 2nd largest sole empire in the world. Neermahal incorporates the grace of few Muslim and architectural pattern. It is believed that Neermahal palace is a formation of King Bir Bikram Bahadur's sophistication and his captivating knowledge of unification of Hindu and Muslims ethnicity and traditions.
Architecture
The beautiful architecture of Neermahal is allocated into two divisions: the interior side is known as Andar Mahal which was mainly reserved for the royal family wherein the outer portion was by and large for entertainment which includes open air theatre, play and drama, traditional dance and other social events which were mainly arranged for king Bir Bikram Bahadur and other royal family and friends. Neermahal consist of twenty four rooms and two stairways which lead to touchdown at Rudrasagar Lake. Maharajas mainly used motor boats for entering and exiting Neermahal from the Rajghat.
Best Time to Visit
In Agartala, one can enjoy reasonable weather throughout the year. One can visit Agartala any time of the year due to fair temperature. The best time to visit Agartala is between Septembers to May.
Winters in Agartala starts from October till February. The temperature during winter is slightly cooler with the temperature around 10 degrees.
In summers, temperature never goes above 35 degrees, summer last from March till July.
Monsoon is beautiful in Agartala which starts from August till October. In the month of October, the weather is pleasant and one can enjoy traditional side of Agartala due to festival season.

Neermahal is spread in the centre of Rudrasagar Lake which is 53 kilometre long. Annually boat race is organised in the month of July to August this lake. Additional beauty of the Neermahal is wandering birds flying and settling in the Rudrasagar Lake which enriches the beauty of the palace.
Other than Neermahal one can enjoy many other historical places in Agartala which includes Ujjayanta Palace and Kunjaban Palace.
Agartala is also a place for Nature lovers, as the scenic beauty of Agartala is surrounded by the beautiful hillocks of Chittagong Hills, Jampui Hills and Raima Valley.
Gondacherra and Sepahijala are two famous wildlife sanctuary situated in Agartala, few other temples are also situated in Agartala which attracts the tourist while in Agartala which includes Buddha temple and Jagannath temple.

Neermahal is situated in Rudrasagar Lake in Agartala in Tripura. One can reach Agartala from available medium of transport.
By Air
The nearest airport to Rudrasagar Lake is Agartala which is very well connected to Kolkata and Guwahati. Kolkata is very well connected to other metro cities of India.
By Rail
Kumarghat is the nearest railway station situated 160 kilometres from Agartala and Dharmanagar is another railway station situated 200 kilometres from Agartala. From Kumarghat and Dharmanagar Taxis are available in regular intervals to reach Agartala.
By Road
