Jal Mahal
Jal Mahal also dubbed as ‘Water Palace’ in English is an impressive and historical palace located in the beautiful pink city of Jaipur, which is coincidentally the capital city of Rajasthan state. Being properly located in the middle of the Mansagar Lake, this building has been the center of attraction for tourists for a very long time. The architecture of this palace is definitely jaw dropping and for this reason, a galore of tourists often comes to Jaipur every year to witness the sightseeing attraction personally. As per some reliable sources, the palace was originally built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II in 17th century and yet overhauling and extension of this building including the lake around it was done by the edict of Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amber in the 18th century.
History
The credit to build Jal Mahal originally in the Mansagar lake in Jaipur goes to the Amer’s rulers in the 17th century. The lake was made at the site with the purpose to fight any possible drought and this water pool contributed a lot in meeting the need. Moreover, it helped prevailing to irrigation all through the year. The Mahal was overhauled by Maharaja Jai Singh II in the 18th century and in the meantime the emperor also built some other famous forts of Jaipur such as Nahargarh, Jaigarh and Amer fort. Incidentally, the well-known Kanak Vrindavan Valley was also made in the same period. That was the era when Rajputana architecture was at its height however the credit to all such beautiful and historical constructions of the time is attributed to Maharaja Jai Singh II.
Architecture

How to Reach
It is easy getting to Water Palace since there are various options to meet the need. Following the roadway option, you can choose the Jaipur-Delhi National Highway 8 and reach the destination easily. Jaipur is a city, which is close to two metropolitan cities namely Mumbai and Delhi. From Delhi, Jaipur is only 270 kilometers, so by road it is easy to reach there. This means choosing cabs or private cars is a good option to reach this wonderful palace. On the other hand, you can go for traveling by train to this Rajasthan city.
