Eid Al Adha Bakr Eid
Eid al-AdhaBakr-Eid is also known as feast of sacrifice or Kurban. It is one of the most important religious festivals celebrated by the Muslim community globally to respect the will of Prophet Ibrahim to forget his first child ismail as an action of submission to god’s authority and his son receipt of being forgone, before god intruded to provide a lamb to Abraham instead of sacrificing.
History
Eid al-AdhaBakr-Eid falls on the 10th day of the twelfth month of the Islamic calendar Dhu Al-Hijjah which is also one of the sacred months of Islamic calendar. The word Eid falls in the 5thSura also known as 5th chapter of Quran in which Eid means solemn festival.
As per the Islamic customs and traditions it is believed that tentatively four hundred years ago Mecca was a parched rocky and deserted place. God charged Abrahim to get his wife Hajar and son ismail to Arabia by the land of Canaan. Abrahim was arranging his journey back to Canaan to which his wife Hajar asked him did god ordered you to leave us in Arabia or you are leaving us to perish. Abrahim sadly pointed up towards the heaven and said god ordered him to do so. Hajar wife of Abrahim said you can go my god will not waste us. Abrahim leaves a huge quantity of water and food for them behind but the enter supply gets over in short time. After feeling hungry after few days Hajar looks out for water and food in the mountain of Al-safa and Al-Marwah for 7 times. She ultimately breaks down beside her child ismail and prays to god for relief. Unbelievably a fountain of water flows down from the heaven at the feet of baby ismail which is now call as zamzam well from which they fulfil their thirst and also feed passers.
It is believed that god later ordered Abrahim to construct a place of reverence near zamzam well. With help of his son ismail Abrahim constructs a place of reverence, Ismail was appointed as a Prophet of God to teach people the lesson of humanity. After many eras mecca became major hub of trade for which the entire credit goes to the well of zamzam which have an abundant source of water.
One of the main marks of Abrahim’s journey was to face the biggest order of god to offer his 13 year old son. Abrahim started preparing this order during this arrangements Shaita tried to convince his family to disagree gods order. Abrahim tried throwing pebbles on shaitan to get rid of him. It is believe that the stones and pebbles are thrown on the wall in Hajj as per this ritual.
God once decided to test Abrahim’s tolerance by coming dreams of Abrahim. In which God ordered Abrahim to sacrifice his son ismail. When the dreams were clear to him Abrahim spoke to his son and with his acceptance decided to sacrifice son Ismail. When Abrahim tried to cut his son ismails throat he was surprise to see that his throat is uncut and unharmed instead of a sheep is been slaughtered. Abrahim had shown that his love for god is succeeded. Muslim community honour this definitive act of sacrifice on the day of Eid al-AdhaBakr-Eid.
