Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday is a festival celebrated in the Christian community on occasion of revival of Jesus Christ on the 3rd day of crucifixion in Calvary in Jerusalem. Easter is conclusion of the short final period in the life of Jesus also known as passion of Christ followed by Lent in which Christian followers observe fast, prayer and sacrament for the period of forty days. The last week of lent also includes the Easter Triduum, Holy Thursday also known as Maundy Thursday remembering the last Supper- The final meal Jesus shared with others during imprisonment and its previous foot washing and good Friday.
History
Easter is a portable feast; it falls on the first Sunday after the full moon as per the civil calendar. The date of Easter varies from 22nd March to 25th April. As per the new treatment Christian belief the revival of Jesus Christ is the main base of Christians. This revival of Jesus recognised Jesus as a son of God and this shows and proves that God will judge the biosphere in virtuous.
Pointius the king of Jewish gave Jesus to be punished and crucified on an accusation to proclaim as son of God.As the time of execution Jesus carried his cross to the place he was crucified known as the place of Golgotha which is also known as the place of skull. Jesus suffered for 6 hours. For last three hours darkness was surrounded over the entire land, earthquake, later the crypt broke opened, the curtain of the temple was broke apart and Jesus let go his spirit which a loud cry.
Later Joseph, Member of Sanhedrin visited Pointius to request for the body of Jesus, Another associate of Sanhedrin fetched 100 of spices mixture to cover Jesus body along with several other herb aloes and Myrrh. They placed Jesus in the linen body keeping the Jewish traditions in mind. They trundled a large rock near the tomb of Jesus.
After a week Mary visited the tomb and sees that the Jesus is not there and as mentioned by Jesus he is raised. On the third day he was raised from death which is known as Easter Sunday a day of revival of Jesus Christ.
Celebrations & Rituals
Easter is celebrated in entire world in Christian community; it is a day of revival of Jesus Christ. The tradition of celebrating Easter varies from place to place, but getting up early to offer special prayer is the common tradition followed in most of the places. Christian community greets each other with Happy Easter in the church. They decorate Easter Eggs made of chocolates and other Edibles. Proper meal is made at home and is shared with friends and relatives.
