Tailoring Training To Scheduled Caste Widows & Destitute Women
An initiative has been taken recently through Tailoring Training to Widows/Destitute Women/Girls of Scheduled Caste and Backward Classes for empowerment. This scheme has brought fruitful outcome for women coming from all such destitute communities. As per this scheme, all Scheduled Caste widows/destitute women or girls whose parents had DRI coverage would have a monetary assistance of Rs. 100/- as stipend fund given on monthly basis to buy raw materials. They are also supported with Rs. 150/- per month for the entire year while continuing in a course to learn and explore sewing training for their benefit and self-reliance.
Evolution of Scheme
The idea to evaluate this scheme was to give new direction to most of the deprived women communities in Indian societies. Keeping in view the sustainability factors and to help out Scheduled Caste women, such training sessions have begun with overall support. Participants are given a new sewing machine free of cost besides stipends and funds to purchase raw materials while they undergo an year-long training.
Provisions
Several provisions have already been implemented post evolution of this scheme in India. This department chalked out the plan to develop at least one hundred community centers out of which 83 have already begun and are in operation. To run such centers successfully, a provision was also explored to recruit the sewing teachers to train potential candidates.
Implementation
Several effective steps have been taken by this department to implement resources which make implementation easy affair. Recruited trainers give thorough training to the candidates to know benefits of using latest sewing technics which can ultimately help them to become self-dependent with moral boost up. It has proved as a boon for the poorer sections of the society organized under the Department of Welfare of Scheduled Caste and Backward Classes to bring sustainability in the Indian societies.
As previous records showed for 2003-2004, total 34,460 Scheduled Caste widows, destitute women and girls had already been trained under this scheme. The number of trained people and trainers has been increasing over the period.
