Brief Description
Missal is another word for Mixture and if you are residing in Mumbai, you must not miss unique treat of mixture. Technically Missal is used as a topping with Farsan, tomatoes, chopped onions and lemon that gives perfect taste to Puneri Missal recipe. Normally, it is served with Pav that makes well-suited combination with the dish. Puneri Missal as well as Kolhapuri Missal are belongs to the same origin of Missal Clan. When delectable mixture of savory snacks is served with spicy concoction, it is termed as “Tarri” or “Gravy”, which is famous recipe of Ghat lands.
Preparation Time 30 minutes Cooking Time 30 minutes Serves 2-3 serves Ingredients for Puneri Misal:-
- Three Cup Mixed Sprouts
- One-Tablespoon Oil
- One Tablespoon Mustard Seeds
- Little Quantity Of Hing
- One And Half Tablespoon Turmeric Powder
- Two Tablespoon Tamarind Pulp
- Salt And Jiggery For Taste
Usal Masala
- Thin Slice Of One Large Onion
- 3 To 4 Cloves Of Thinly Sliced Onion
- One And Half Cup Of Shredded Coconut
- One And Half Tablespoon Of Sesame Seeds
- One-Tablespoon Coriander Seeds
- One And Half Tablespoon Cumin Seeds
- 1 To 2 Cloves
- Two To Three Black Peppercorns
- 4 To 5 Red Chillies
For The Tarri:
- Kolhapuri Masala Of Onion And Garlic Or Parampara Chicken Masala
- Only Large Finely Chopped Onion
- One Tablespoon Of Kasturi Methi
- If You Want To Prepare Your Puneri Missal Recipe A Pune Style, Add Handful Of Shredded Coconut
For The Base:
- Two Large Boiled And Peeled Potatoes
- Three Cups Of Flatteded Rice Or Thick Poha Drenched In Water
- Three To Four Cups Of Chuvda Or Farsan
- Two Cups Yogurt
- Finely Sliced Onion As Well As Coriander Leaves Used For Garnish
- One Packet White Bread
How To Make Puneri Misal
Usal Recipe:
- Roast all the ingredients of Usal masala except sesame seeds and coconut for few minutes. Now, turn heat to low medium and put coconut as well as sesame seeds
- Cook coconut until it becomes brownish black in color and then, grind mixture to a fine paste, add little water
- Heat one tablespoon of oil in quite a large pan for tadka. Now, add sprouts in hot oil and cook it for few minutes. Then, steam sprouts for few minutes until it is partially cooked. Now, add tamarind pulp, Usal Masal and other ingredients for Puneri Missal Preparation.
- Cook all the ingredients until its mixture begins to lose some vegetable oil. Put warm water and little salt in to the mixture. Place a lid on the dish, let it boil and now Usal recipe is ready.
Tarri Recipe:
- Heat one-tablespoon vegetable oil in pan, add onion to hot oil and cook it until it turns brown. Put tomato puree abs again cook mixture until it becomes semi dry.
- Now, put Kolhapuri Masala and sauté for 4-5 minutes
- Add three to four cup of water and boil Tarri. Decorate Puneri Missal Preparation with freesh crushed coconut and coriander leaves.
