Oil Palm

Palm Oil is one of the most liked natural oils produced worldwide since centuries. As this oil contains several unique features and is considered nature's prime gift to the mankind to cure various diseases, it is available everywhere worldwide. In fact, this product is available in all the continents in one form or the other since more than 5,000 years now. The usage of this oil is promoted due to multiple features such as the nutritional advantages it has and other benefits from sustaining better health to this oil containing variety of natural resources. Such features keep this oil apart.

Elaeis Guineensis Group of palm trees is commonly found in Indian subcontinent as it is common in the African countries. It is very much common in several other nations in the world where the fruits are processed to produce such oils. Fruits of the above mentioned trees are the natural resources to produce oils that can be used for variety of purposes. Such fruits have distinction to produce the two major varieties of Palm Oil to use for multiple purposes.

This oil hardly has cholesterol elements due to it being a vegetable oil and is used for multiple purposes. Virgin Palm Oil contains sufficient carotenoids or Vitamin A and Vitamin E, also called the tocotrienols or tocopherols. This oil is the most suitable choice due to it not carrying any single trans-fatty element.

Palm Oil Production in India

Usually, the flesh of its fruit is used to produce Palm Oil in India like it is a common trend everywhere in the world. Lauric palm kernel oils are also produced from fruit's core kernels. Beauty of Palm Oil is that it is one of the naturally refined products that hardly contain any chemical solvent to cause side effects. That is why this oil has ample power to reduce the residue contamination risks. The availability of high amount of Betacarotene make Palm Oil entirely reddish colored.

This oil is common in the country for cooking purpose. It's most popular use is to prepare margarine to keep processed foods safe and secure. This oil is also used commonly to prepare the confectioneries, coffee whitening and filled milk to make biscuit creams or to process them. Its use is common in several countries today.

Palm Oil Growing States in India and Best Season

Although Palm Oil has a rich history of its production in African countries since more than 5000 years ago, its source fruit, Elaeis Guineensis is abundantly found in the Indian subcontinent's Kerala state. West African people would have used this oil since many centuries. Use of this oil became common in the European region in 17th century as well. Today, Malaysia has become one of the largest Palm Oil exporter countries in the world.

As far as producing Palm Oil in India is concerned, cultivation of its fruit started in the southern state of Kerala centuries ago. Some of regions where the production of its fruit has increased over the decades are Yeroor, Chithara and Kulathupuzha in the Kollam District of Kerala where it has gained ample popularity.
