Recent figures estimate that India exported approximately 80000 to 100000 tons of chilies annually in several forms from dried ones to powders, picked and oleoresin et al. Some of the importing countries of Indian Chillies are the USA, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, far Eastern Countries and the Middle Eastern countries amongst others.
Chillies Growing States in India & Best Season
As the recent surveys have shown, some of the largest Chillies production states in terms of percentage in India include Andhra Pradesh at 46% and Karnataka at 15% while states in descending order in production are Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu amongst others. Chillies cultivated during February to April months are though most productive and quality products as part of the Indian spices. Usually organized planting of Chillies begin from the August month and continues to October. In many cases of harvesting, December month is considered the most suitable one depending upon soil categories. Farmers welcome the peak arrivals of Chillies in February and March months.
Methods of Growing Chillies
As Indian Chillies can be easily produced throughout the year its production has already increased every year to maintain its world record. It doesn't require special type of soil for cultivation purpose. Maintaining white flowered Chillies plant isn't a tough job. It is too easy to plan the dark green or purple leaved plant which usually grows for not more than 1.5 meters in height in the usual cases. Watering and easy maintenance of Chillies plant suffice and it definitely remains an ultimate method.
No specific cultivation pattern is used to cultivate Chillies due to it being one of the simplest crops from the Indian spices genre. Plants are easily resistant to each and every type of soil and have easy survival in the variegated climatic conditions. As the plants have shorter duration period of mere 3 to 4 months it takes no additional effort or time for cultivation purpose.
