Tons Valley
Tons valley is situated in Jonsar Bhawar range of Garhwal Himalaya and it located at a height of 1,097 m to 3,600 m above the sea level. The entire valley is covered with dense forests and snow clad mountains and thus promising to be a thrilling adventurous spot. Tons valley together with the Tons River is most prominent spot for white water rafting, camping, trekking, mountaineering and rock climbing. Diversified flora and fauna with the enchanting scenic beauty are the additional characteristics of the Tons Valley.
The top of the tons river lies in the Himalayan Crystalline complex. Later, it flows through Tethan Himalaya rocks before it merges with the Pabbar River in the Lesser Himalayan Sequence. The Tons River flows into the Yamuna River after crossing the Sub-Himalaya Sequence.

Monal Pheasant, western Tragopan, Himalayan Snow cock, Golden eagle, black Eagle bearded vulture, Parakeets and Pigeons are the main inhabitants of Tons valley. Mussoorie, Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rishikesh and Dak Pathar are the few places near Tons valley which are worth watching.
Together with the Ganges, the Tons River has become the main source for water based adventure sports like white- water rafting in Uttarakhand. One can stay at Jaunsar Bawar region on the bank of the Tons River and enjoy the grade 4 rafting.
The ideal time to visit Tons valley is during March to June and October to November. The temperature during the summer season will be 25 degree centigrade minimum and maximum of 38 degree centigrade. Whereas, the winter season will face the minimum temperature of 1 degree centigrade and maximum temperature of 15 degree centigrade. The monsoon season arrives during July to September.

Air Transport
The closest airport to Tons valley is the Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun which is situated at a distance of approximately 75 km. Buses, and Taxis are readily available from the airport to Tons valley.
Railways
Dehradun is the nearest railway station located at a distance of 175 km from the Tons valley. Buses are readily available from the railway station in Dehradun to Tons Valley and they can be taken till the adjoining railway station that is located in the city of Dehradun. Dehradun lies at a detachment of 175 kilometers from the Tons Valley region, and buses can be obtainable from the main railway station located in Dehradun to this Tons Valley. Even cabs can be taken for fares that range from Rs 10 to 12 per kilometer. Trains for Dehradun can be taken from all locations including Allahabad, Okha, Mumbai, Ujjain, Howrah, New Delhi, and Jammu Tawi. Regular trains from Mumbai run at fare of Rs. 441 for normal sleeper class ticket.
Road Transport
Buses for Tons Valley can be taken from all neighboring important locations like Mori, Mussoorie and even Dehradun. Regular buses from Mussoorie are available in both AC and non AC types. Buses will also be available under private category and government-run category. Buses run under the government mainly cover many corners of the state expansively. Regular buses from the popular hill station of Mussoorie to Tons Gorge charges fares of about Rs 90 to 100, is the distance is of 139 km.
