This is considered to the most popular works of Gautama Buddha which speaks about the intermittent state between death and rebirth and is termed as BARDO. Indian maestro Padmasambhava who came along to Tibet during 8th century is considered as the Guru Rinpoche meaning the “Precious master”. He had great impact of his preaching on Tibetans and Padmasambhava’s wife and student wrote the script for his work, which was called CYCLE OF PEACEFUL AND WRATHFUL DEITIES. This was found in the 14th century by Karma Lingpa.
More Description
The Bardo Thodol is considered to be a guide, which is said to be coming up in one’s life. This relates to a period between death and rebirth of an individual. This is applicable to every stage of life and the present status of a man is said to be a continual bardo, which means, hanging between the past and the future.
Precisely, Bardo Thodol is referred to a dying or a man who is already dead. This status is meant to be freed from the life cycle which is called Samsara which happens through the process of hearing. The dead or dying person is made to go through with warm and terrifying feelings which are also attributed to the status of mind.
The principles relating to the teachings of Buddhism which go around death and rebirth cannot be understood so easily and speaks more about the rebirth where in there is no concept of soul but a different approach is made in Buddhism. Tibetan Buddhism relates to the mind status and only few can understand the status. Here, the inner mind is related to light or wind. Barods are also there within Bardo which are termed as Bardo of death moment, Supreme reality and bardo of becoming. It also speaks about liberation through hearing in the intermittent state of mind which is between death and rebirth.
