The death of Prophet Muhammad made the release of the Hadith. Nearly two centuries after the death of Prophet Muhammad, Bukhar’s collection describing the religious ways and prayer methods were compiled and released in the form of Hadith. After the death of Prophet Muhammad, his companions and other sources known to the Islamic world, compiled the Hadith for the use of the future generations. Basically, Hadith refers to the Islamic Laws and also contains contradictions with Quran in some aspects.
More Description
What does Hadith form?
- Every Hadith contains two parts and the Hadith collected from elders and the contemporaries of Prophet Muhammad will not be tested for reliability. Hadith can be said to be the Jurisprudence of Islam and thus paved way for Islamic Law.
- Different sets of Hadith exist for Islam, Sunni, Shia and Lbadi groups.
- Individual Hadith is termed as reports or actions of Muhammad and refers to the tradition
It is Caliph Uthman Ibn Affan, the Rashidun empire leader, who is also the third successor of Muhammad who used to refer to Hadith as suggested by Muhammad for writing and safe guarding Muhammad’s words. 656 saw the assassination of Caliph Uthman which was a setback for the records of Hadith. However, 9th century saw the Hadiths growing tremendously and of course contained various contradictions due to various changes in the Quran and other preaching.
Scholars believed that there were too many changes in the Hadith which required redress and the Muslims saw number of changes paving for today’s Hadith in its strong place. Syed Ahmed Khan happens to be the one who was responsible for the current movement of the Islam and some of the students also narrated that the Hadiths were only covered and made up stories. Another scholar Ghulam Ahmed Pervez also was one of the famous critics of Hadith and said that Quran only is enough and essential for one’s upliftment.
