Jama Masjid Bijapur
Jama Masjid is a mosque situated in the State of Karnataka. The mosque is constructed by Ali Adil Shah in the year 1578, this king fought a battle against Vijay nagara and he faces victory towards it, the mosque is constructed after the victory against this king. The battle fought is known as Rakkasagi- Tangadagi in Talikoti, which is a place and is fought in the year 1565.
History
The history of this mosque is well known in state of Karnataka, it is known as the oldest mosque in Deccan.
In 1518 Bahamani Sultane spilt states known as Deccan sultans, in which one is Bijapur which is ruled by kings Adil Shah Dynasty. Yuduf Adil shah is the founder of this city Bijapur and owns very much to the king. This dynasty rule ended in 1686, when the city is conquered during the reign of mughal emperor Aurangzeb. After the indepence the city has become part of Bombay state and later became a part of Mysore state and now it is in Karnataka state.
Architecture
The jama masjid is 1200 yards to the east of the citadel which is in the city of bijapur. This mosque is built in rectangular shape, about 400 feet from east to west and 280 feet from north to south. The main entrance is situated in the east side to the mosque. The total area of the mosque occupies, 116,300 square feet which is unmatched with any building in Bijapur. This mosque stands unique in the city and doesn’t coincide or look like any other in the city. There are columns in the main building which divided it to 45 equal square parts. The most attractive and beautiful feature in the building is the dome, it is beautifully painted and is unique in the city

The best time to visit this place is from October to March that is during winter. This is the right time to visit this city as well as the masjid that is present here. This season will be comfortable for the tourists to visit and enjoy the climate here

By Rail
Bijapur is connected with many trains to it; there are direct trains from some of the city in India.
