Bawaman Mosque
This mosque is the mosque of Champaner in western India. Bawaman mosque is located in the western side of India’s largest fort gate that is an archeological park in Gujarat.
History
Bawaman name came from a saint who is from Baroda. The saint is a follower of Sadan Shah who has his tomb in the kalika temple, which is also in the archeological park in Gujarat. This is constructed during the reign of Mahmud Begada with several other mosques in that area. Many of the structural elements were damaged and the archeological department in India reported that restoration process has started in 1985. The restoration process includes removing of dead lime material from the roof, and resetting of loose stones in the arches. This restoration process increased traffic to the mosque. As the mosque is restored and now is a well constructed one many Muslims come here to offer their prayers. ASI spent more money on the restoration and not only this but on all the mosques which are in a ruin state. But after the earthquake 2009 the work done has been damaged and back to normal state.
