Jammu & Kashmir Sheshnag Lake
Sheshnag Lake is located on the same track that takes you to Amarnath cave. It is situated at a distance of about 23 kilometers from the Pahalgam forming a part of Anantnag district of Kashmir. The lake is around 1.1 kilometers long and the width is also 0.7 kilometers. The word sheshnag means “king of snakes” and it is said that Sheshnag himself dug this lake and that is why it is known as Sheshnag Lake. It is a very popular lake owing to the different mythological stories which are connected with it. A number of Hindu devotees going to Amarnath cave first spend some time and then start their journey. It is one of the holiest sites for Hindus and most visited from the people of different parts of the country.
History
