Haryana Sannihit Sarovar
This lake(Sannihit Sarovar) has a religious importance in Kurukshetra. Various myths are popular about this lake. It is mentioned in the religious books that Lord Vishnu have took rest here. This place was also known as the seat of Lord Vishnu when he was wandering on earth in search of Padmavathi. At that time a pond was existed at this place and Lord Vishnu used to take bath in that pond. Later the same pond was converted into a grand sarovar. It is believed that all the sins are vanished one a pilgrim take a dip. It is also believed that on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya (the complete darkness), bath in this sarovar is equal to Ashwamedha Yagya. Inside the premises of this sarovar, the holy shrines of Shri hanuman, Lord Vishnu, Dhruv Bhagat, Laxmi Narayan, Gooddes Durga, and Dhruv Narayan are existed. This sarovar is spread in an area of more than 550 ft x 1500 ft. In this sarovar, Pind Daan is also carried out. It is also believed that offering for forefathers in this sarovar, provides peace to the departed souls. Kumbh Mela is also conducted here. Geographical coordinate of tis sarovar are 29° 57' 60" N 76° 50' 08 E.
History
In this sarovar, all the wandering souls find Moksha when their successors arrange Pind Daan. In this sarovar, pilgrims from all over the country gather to offer something for peace of the souls of their forefathers.This sarovar is called the resort of the TRIO GOD, The Bramha, The Vishnu and The Mahesha. It is evident from history that on this place saint Dadhichi scarified his life for Lord Indra. It is also mentioned in the Puranas that on the occasion of eclipse formed by Sun, Lord Krishna met with Gopies and with other relative who came here from Braja. Temples of Lord Surya Narayan, Dhruv Nartayana and Laxmi Narayana are located at the bank of this sarovar.
How to Reach
This place can be accessed by all the ways of transportation as the same is not located in any remote area.This place is located on Pehwa Road from Kurukshetra and has the accessibility of all the means of transportation.
By Air: One can reach this area by air and the nearest airport is Kurukshetra itself. From airport, road transports are easily available to access this sarovar.
By Rail: All the major trains of BG, MG are well connected with Kurukshetra. One can board/de-board at this station and also find other trains from Kurukshetra.
By Road: Delhi is well connected by road. National highway No 24, 22 also crosses through this station. Haryana Roadways and private tour operators run their transports facility to this sarovar. Private tour packages are easily available on affordable rates.
