Shaniwarwada Fort Pune Maharashtra
The ruined land of this elegant fort is believed to have been haunted by the ghosts of those who died an untimely death when the sudden burning of the entire construction happened. However, legend even states that the fort is haunted by one of the sons of the early Peshwa rulers in Maharashtra.
History
Shaniwarwada Fort was evidently built in 1746 under the rule of the Peshwas in Maharashtra. The Fort was understood to be the central seat for all Peshwa rules until 1818 when Peshwa ruler, Bajirao II surrendered his precious throne to Sir John Malcolm, a servant of the English East India Company. However, it was on the 27th of February, 1828, that a severe unexpected fire embraced the Fort and turned the body of the magnificent piece of art into ashes.
Features
Shaniwarwada Fort has five gates, the most important one being the famous Dilli Darwaza or the Delhi Gate. Other than this, the palace includes important buildings like the Maratha court reception hall, the dance hall and the Old Mirror Hall. Along with this, the palace consists of greenery towards the outer boundary of the southern end and has a lotus shaped fountain within its complex.
Special Facts
The local people of the region believe that the Fort sis haunted by the ghost of a 13 year of old prince who was assassinated by one of his relative in the middle of a full moon night. His cries can heard in the middle of the night.

Entry at the Fort has been restricted by the police of the region from dawn to dusk as this is the time that is generally considered to the peak haunting time in the Palace.
How to Reach
Regular bus services along with private taxis are available for the Shaniwarwada Fort. However, not a single bus stop or taxi stand is found near the ruin, therefore, any person who wishes to visit the site has to make a small walk in order to reach the ruin.
