Moradabad district is located in Uttar Pradesh. It is a portion of the Moradabad division.

The area that the Moradabad district covers is about three thousand four hundred and ninety three square kilometers. The headquarters of the district lies in Moradabad. The two Lok Sabha constituencies of the district are located at Sambhal and Moradabad.

In 1600, Murad, the son of Mughal Emperor Shahjahan established the district. The name of Moradabad has been derived from his name. The district is about one hundred and sixty seven kilometers away from the capital city of New Delhi. The city lies on the banks of river Ram Ganga. The actual development of the district started after 1632, when Rustom Khan constructed Jama Masjid at Moradabad.

Although Moradabad is an essential agrarian market still the district is renowned worldwide because of its glassware and brass works. There are also a few cottage and small scale industries found in the region.
