Mainpuri is located at north east of Agra and is considered to be administrative headquarters. Mainpuri is wellknown for agricultural products in the state.

History:

Name of Mainpuri originated from Chaman/Myan Rishi. The city is known for its old Hindu temples. Some of the famous temples are: Sheetla Devi Temple, Bhimsen Mandir, Falahari Ashram, Hanuman Temple, Sargana Mahadev, Kali Devi Temple and many more. Mainpuri was part of Kanauj and continued to be its capital for several centuries during the reign of King Harsha.

Mainpuri is also known for Sarus Crane which is the only crane species that resides in India. There are approximately 8,000-10,000 Sarus Cranes in India.
