Firozabad is situated at about 40 km away from Agra and approximately 240 km away from Delhi. It is a part of western Uttarpradesh state. Firozabad is well known for its glass industry.

History:

The name Firozabad was given in 1566 by Faraz Shah Mansab Dar , initially it was known as Chandwer Nagar.  Firozabad was in Etawah district during British regime, but after some time it was related to Aligarh district. In 1832, Firozabad was attached to Sadabad. In 1833, it was attached to Agra district. Eminent personalities visited Firozabad during freedom struggles like Mahatma Gandhi in 1929, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru in 1937, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose in 1940. On 5th February 1989 Firozabad district was formed.

Culture:

There are many Jain temples here namely Jain Mandir in Gher Khokal (Mahaveer Chowk) and Chandprabhu Jain Mandir in Khidki. The temples of Gherkhokal and Khidki are approximately 250–300 years old. The Jama Masjid is considered to be oldest mosque which was found in 16th century.
