Uttaranchal Yamunotri Temple
The entire state of Uttarakhand is full of temples and pilgrimage places. Yamunotri temple is one of them. From Rishikesh and Haridwar one will have to travel a long distance to reach this temple. This temple is amongst the pilgrimage site famous by the name of "CHAR DHAM". Border of India and China is clearly visible form this temple. This temple is often called by its another name that is "Yamunotri". In the northern side of this temple one can encounter Bandarpunch. The trek of this temple is full of rugged peaks and dense forests. Tourists and devotees often hire horses to reach the top of the mountain where this temple is situated.
Yamuna river originates from the height of four thousand and four hundred twenty one meter and there are 2 hot springs which offers pure and clean water to the hikers. People who visit this temple engange themselves in certain ritual activities and spend some good time with other tourists as well.
History
Native people of Uttarakhand believe that Maharani Guleria has constructed this temple in end of 19th century. According to Hindu religion, Yamunotri temple holds special signifiacance and it was regarded as Asit Muni home in ancient time. On the occasion of Akshaya tritiya, this temple opens for all devotees whereas on Yama Dwitiya it remains closed.

By Rail
TheĀ Rishikesh as well as Dehradun are the two adjacent railway station used to reach Yamunotri temple of Uttrarakhand. The distance between Yamunotri and Dedhradun rail station is 175 kilometers where as from Rishikesh one will have to travel 200 to reach this place. From the rail station people can take private taxi or cab to reach anywhere in the state.
By Road
Direct roads are not there for reaching Yamunotri temple. Firstly the tourists have to reach a place called Hanuman Chatti. This place is well connected with portable roads. From Hanuman Chatti horses are used to climb up the trek area and reach Yamunotri temple. Local buses as well as taxies are quite frequent from Rishikesh, Tehri, Uttarkashi and Dehradun.
By Air
One of the developed airport is JOLLY airport which is 210 kms away from Yamunotri which can be used to travel along the state. Most of the flights on this airport come from Delhi. By hiring a private taxi people can reach any destination in Uttarakhand.
Important Shrines
There are lots of places to be visited in Yamunotri temple. Dodital, Barkot, Harsil, Hanuman Chatti, Bhojbasa, Gangotri, Har-ki-doon and Gangnani are some of the places which a tourist can visit with ease.
Significance Of The Temple
This temple holds special significance in Hindu mythology. People visit this temple to get their sins cured and also to get moksha after their death.
Every year large number of people from different region of India visit this place to see Suryakund which is known for its high templerature due to thermal springs. Saints and other devotees of the temple cook rice and potatoes in the water from kund.
Weather and Time To Visit
Since Yamunotri temple is located at a great height so most of the time this region remain covered with snow. The temperature is quite low in summers. The most favorable time to reach this temple is month of June, July, August, September and October.
