History
Once upon a time when Kush, lord Rama's younger son, was taking a bath in Saryu River had misplaced his amulet. He searched hard to get that amulet but his efforts were of no use. He was not able to find that amulet and got depressed as well. He thought that this happened to him because of a bad omen. But in reality, one of the nag kanya had picked his amulet. She used to loved him from a long time. On returning that amulet to Kush, she won his admiration as well as appreciation.
On the remark of this incident Kush had democrated Nageshwar temple for her. She was a great devotee of lord Shiva and this is the main reason for the celebration of shivratri at this temple. Till the time of Chandragupta II this temple was well maintained and lasted for years. In Indian history no other pilgrimage place or temple has lasted for years. Around this temple there is dense forest and this temple has immemorial charm as well.

There are three different ways to reach this temple in ayodhya such as through airways, through railways and also through roadways.
By Air
To reach the city of ayodhya one of the nearest airports is located in the region of Faizabad. It is a distance of six kilometers. Another airport is amausi airport which is located at a distance of 136 kilometers. Tourists can choose any one of them and can travel along the city of ayodhya.
By Rail
To reach Ayodhya northern railways services can be used. Rail network that runs between mughal sarai and Lucknow is best to reach ayodhya. Ayodhya junction as well as railway station of faizabad are most suitable to reach this temple.
By Road
Most of the cities of Uttar Pradesh are well connected with national highways. Daily there are many buses and private cabs that run on such highways to reach their destination Ayodhya. UPSRTC buses are most convinient way to reach this place with ease and in affordable prices. Lucknow is 136 km far away, Allahabad is 165 km far away, gonad is 52 km far away from ayodhya.

The best season to visit this place is months of September to Feburary. People are advice to carry some of the woolen clothes as temperature of the city can change anytime.
