Tamilnadu Punnainallur Mariamman Temple
Tamilnadu state is home to unique culture and tradition but also for various Hindu temples. The renowned Punnainallur Mariamman temple is among one of them. The sacred Hindu worship place is considered among the most visited Mariamman temples in the country. Moreover, the presiding deity Goddess Mariamman is believed to be an incarnation of Goddess Parvathi.
History
The sacred Punnainallur Mariamman temple was constructed by Venkoji Chatrapati, a king during the 1680 AD. According to local legend, once king saw a dream regarding Goddess Mariamman who told him that she was hidden in a nearby forest in the form of an idol. Next day King reached the foretold place and found the idol. He decided to build a magnificent temple for Goddess Mariamman. Moreover, according to folklore, the daughter of king Tulaja lost her eyesight because of an illness, hence she worshipped Goddess Mariamman and finally she regained her eyesight.
Weather And Time To Visit
Like all other cities in the state, Punnainallur town also enjoys the tropical climate condition. Hence, during summer, the temperature rises to 44 degree Celsius while in winter it may drop down to 5 degree Celsius. Moreover, monsoon normally occurs in the month of July. So, the best time to get there is from the month of March to October.
