Shri Kaila Devi Temple is a famous Hindu Temple which is believed to have been originated around 1100 AD. The temple is dedicated to principal deity Shri Kaila Devi who is worshipped by thousands of people in Eastern Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. Nearly 60 lacs people visit and pay homage to this goddess every year. This temple is considered as one of the nine Shakti Peeths of our Goddess Durga.
Karauli district is based in Rajasthan, around 2 kms to the north-west side of Kaila Village. The temple is a marble based structure that has a large courtyard which has checked floor. One can see red flags planted at one side of the temple. The ornamental work of this temple together with the en-carving and engraving is done on the pillars and walls. It is believed that red stone of Karoli was used for the construction of this temple.
History
The history of this temple dates back to 1100 AD and is devoted to tutelary deity, Kaila Devi. As per legends, this temple was built by King Bhompal who received some instructions from the goddess Kaila Devi to construct this temple for her since he was acknowledged to be a great devotee of her. Since its establishment, this temple is worshipped by millions of people who come from far flung off places. Later Maharaja Gopal Singh from Yadava clan constructed an exquisite temple that has a dome whose apex is made of gold.
The idol of Goddess Kaila Devi is slightly inclined since the neck of Kaila Devi is bent. These idols are ancient and one can buy them from any local store.
Discovery of Temple
This temple was discovered by King Bhompal, a true devotee of Kaila Devi. To add further this temple was renovated again by Later Maharaja Gopal Singh, who added beauty to this temple.

Kaila Devi Temple is well acknowledged for its architecture which is an exquisite example of building contrivance. Even till now, this temple stands best and hasn’t crumbled or being subjected to ruins or any natural calamity. The entrance of this temple holds intricate relief and mosaic work. The large dome of the temple is an example of architectural work. The temple also has a Chowk before the main temple which is opened while there is verandah which is open on either side. The area encircling the temple is also adorned with numerous other idols. One more feature for which this temple is well known is that it is situated at the foothills of mountains while is encircled by greenery.

Summer season is the season which must be avoided by the pilgrims. The months between October and March are considered to be ideal for visiting the temple. In the months of Navratras of Chaitras as well as Ashwin, this temple witnesses visit by millions of people that come and pay homage to the Goddess Kaila Devi. It is said that these days are considered sacred and if one worships during these days, it is fruitful.

The Kaila Devi Temple is dedicated to goddess Kalia Devi Mata, who is an infestation of Goddess Durga. This temple is a well known temple that is worshipped by thousands of pilgrims every year. If the individuals wish offering some thing at this temple then they can buy the things from local vendors that offer sweets, flowers, scented sticks, and coconut. The temple remains open from 6am to 9.30 pm regularly, when two Aartis are conducted – one in the morning, while other in the evening. Hence the devotees must visit the temple during these hours only.
Another important thing which devotees must keep in mind is that it is worth visiting this temple during the Kaila Devi Fair which is a popular fair celebrated in Rajasthan.
Rules And Rituals Of The Temple
Though there are no special rules and regulations followed in this temple, yet it is advised that people must not bring any kind of meat or poultry things. The devotees bring sweets, bangles, tikki, Kajal, coconuts, and cash to offer to the goddess Kaila Devi. The pilgrims must be ready to walk on foot while visiting the temple as no other modes of conveyance is allowed here.
