Rajasthan Ambika Mata Temple
The Hindu temple that is situated in the village named Jagat at a distance of 50 km in the south east direction of Udaipur is named as Ambika Mata Mandir. The temple is devoted to one of the avatars of Goddess Durga and is worshipped in the form of Ambika Devi. The temple is located on one of the extension of a mountain and has been decorated with large number of engravings. The oldest temple was built in the 961 AD and has been modified since then. The State Department of Archaeology and Museum of Rajasthan maintains the Ambika Mata temple.
The temple is termed as the Khajuraho of Rajasthan. The temple still depicts the initial sculptures of the deities inscribed in the temple. The shape of the temple is that of a pentagon. The engravings of deity, dancing women, musicians and singers have been intricately engraved in the outer walls of the temple.
The temple is adored by the idol of Goddess that stands as high as three and a half feet and has been carved out of a stone. The idol is rested on the throne. The entrance of the temple is marked by the sculpture of tortoise that is also carved out of stone. The other names given to the goddess are Sajabal, Mother Jagdamba, and Mother Bhawani etc.
The annual fair of Vaishakhm Poornima is celebrated in the honor of the goddess. The temple is litted with the lamps and is decorated with the colorful Rangoli.
