Odisha Ladu Baba Temple
Ladu Baba is a prominent temple located in Bhubaneswar city in the state of Orissa. The shrine was constructed in 13th century. The structure was earlier called Kainchhi. Ladu Baba shrine is situated in Uttara Daraja in Old Town. The temple is located close to Ratha Street, heading from Lingaraj Compound to main Chowk. The temple is located 30 meters from Chitrakarini shrine and 75 meters from Mohini shrine. Ladu Baba shrine is on the eastern side. It must be noted that chamber of the shrine is empty. Nonetheless, the sculptural ornamentations on the exterior region imply that the shrine was originally devoted to Lord Shiva.
The sanctuary is flanked by Badu Sahi Street and Uttaradaraja in the direction of west and private apartments on other 3 sides. The shrine is partially buried to the jangha and pabhaga including the doors. The temple is in a fast process of deterioration because individuals use the empty chamber as a garbage can. The shrine is buried till half of jangha. It is buried till pabhaga in the west direction. The shrine is actually pancharatha, integrating a quadrangle vimana. The vimana has a beautiful front porch.
Architecture
The impressive vimana measures 7.00 sq meters and the portico is 0.58 metres. On a particular height, Ladu Baba shrine is in full rekha symmetry with normal bada, mastaka and gandi measuring 11.30 meters in elevation from the existing bottom to kalasa. Furthermore, on elevation, bada measures 2.75 metres in elevation has five upright divisions namely pabhaga plain, bandhana three moldings, talajangha (0.75 meters), upara jangha. The baranda has 9 moldings (0.95 metres). At the same time, gandi is positioned over the baranda. It measures 5.55 meters in elevation is a rounded spire and lacks any decoration. In the middle of raha travelers can easily notice beautiful multiple Udyota Singhanas.
It must be noted that Mastaka in typical Orissan shrines has units like beki, khapuri, kalasa and amlaka that measures 4 meters in elevation. The beki indentation has beki bhairavas positioned over the raha paga. On the other hand, dopichha simha is positioned over kanika pagas. Raha niches are positioned on 3 equal sides’ measures 1.15 meters in elevation x 0.52 meters in breadth x 0.45 meters in depth. All are considered to be vacant except the western raha that protects a 4armed Ganesa image presiding over a lotus base. His left hand is presiding on a parasu and right hand has an akshya mala whereas the upper right and left hands are broken. The representation has a jatamukuta.

By Road

Significance Of The Temple
According to some local traditions the divinity was rescued and moved from Lanka to Ekamra Kshetra at some point of Svarna Lanka on the occasion of Ram-Ravana war.
Weather And Time To Visit
It has been suggested to visit Ladu Baba Temple from September to March. This is the most favorable time to visit and explore the temple. April to June gets very hot and dry. You should not travel to Ladu Baba Temple during this period. There are many budget, luxury and star hotels located in the city of Bhubaneswar to cater different types of travelers and devotees.
