Odisha Chandi Temple
The Chandi Temple in Cuttack is a very old and ancient temple and it is dedicated to Goddess Chandi, who is the incarnation of Goddess Durga. The temple is located right near the banks of River Mahanadi and is visited by many devotees all the year round. The image of the deity in the temple is older than the temple. In this temple, she is also worshipped as Bhubaneswari while the mantra is chanted. The goddess here is also popularly known as Maa Katak Chandi. She is known to rule the ancient city.
History
Prior to the construction of the temple, the land was empty. A priest Sri Hansa Panda used it as a grazing ground for the cattle. One day, while he was resting, he noticed something strange and felt something unusual. The same night Goddess Chandi came in his dream and requested to take her out of the land. This was reported to the king and the land was dug. While digging, forty bullock carts in Red Sindoor emerged and this made the king erect the temple.

The temple can be easily reached through road, rail or air. The temple is located at the heart of Cuttack, and it is well connected. Many buses and autos run to the temple, while the devotees can also come through rail or air.

The famous events celebrated are Kali Puja and Durga Puja. These festivals draw large numbers of people.
