Odisha Brahmapura Temple
Brahmapura is the main Jagannath temple in town. It is located near Patnagarh town at Brahmapura village of Balangir district. It was established by Ramai Deo, the founder of the Chauhan dynasty of Balangir-Patna kingdom.
Facts & Significance
It is an ancient temple of Orissa. It is one of the many Jagannath temples present in Orissa. Jagannath is the only God worshipped and heartily loved by the devotees. The temple has pictures of Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra which were taken from Puri. It is believed that Ramai Deo took up thirteen Brahmana families and later granted them two villages namely Hirapur and Chandanbhati. These people were previously associated in the Seva Puja of the deities. Now they are responsible for the temple's maintenance.
