Maharashtra Mrutyunjayeshwar Mandir
The prominent Mrutyunjayeshwar Mandir or temple is a famous Shiva temple in the district of Pune. The sacred Hindu worship place is devoted to its main deity called Lord Shiva. The main attraction of the temple is its Shiva Linga. However, another important attraction in the temple is the ritual that performed to worship Shiva Linga. Moreover, during the Mahashivratri, a festival devoted to Lord Shiva, devotees from all over the state gather here to have sacred Darshan and blessings of God.
History
However, there is no proper evidence available regarding the history and construction of the temple yet it is said it was constructed by the Peshwa kings during the 17th of century. The temple is also famous for its Maharashrian style of architecture that displays the true picture of Peshwa rulers. The scriptures on the wall of the temple show the mythological stories related to Lord Shiva, Parvathi and lord Ganesha. According to a local folklore, a notable Peshwa ruler constructed the temple as he was a great follower of Lord Shiva. This Shiva temple is considered among the most visited Shiva temples in the state of Maharashtra.
Weather and time to visit
The temperature in the city of Pune remains 23 to 32 degree Celsius during the summer. However, while in winter temperature may drop down to 9 degree Celsius. Hence, the best time to get there is from the month of March to October. However, pilgrims can also visit during the festival of Mahashivratri.
