Maharashtra Jogeshwari Temple
Pune district is not only famous for its high-tech culture but also for ancient Hindu pilgrims sites and temples. The prominent Jogeshwari Temple or Jogeshwari Mata Mandir is among one of them. The sacred Hindu worship place is devoted to its main deity goddess Jogeshwari who is believed to be one of the incarnations of Adi-Shakti. According to Hindu mythology, Goddess Jogeshwari killed the demon called Urupkansava who killed various sages.
History
However, there is no proper history available regarding the origin and construction of this sacred ancient Hindu worship place yet it is said the temple was constructed centuries ago by an unknown dynasty. However according to local legend the temple was built by a sage who performed his penance at the place wherein current temple situated. It is said Mata Jogeshwari is one of the incarnations of Goddess Parvathi and capable to grant any kind of boon except immortality. Hence, followers of goddess Jogeshwari visit the temple to fulfill their wishes.
Weather and time to visit
Remember, Pune city is famous for its favorable climate condition that makes it an all-time visit city. Hence, if you want to visit at sacred Jogeshwari temple then you can visit here throughout the year but the best time to get there is from the month of March to October. Moreover, you can also visit during Navaratri, a festival devoted to Goddess. Hence, during the festival time, you can participate in special puja or ritual performed in the temple.
How to reach
Lohegaon is the nearest airport that connects the city to other parts of the country. However, Shivaji nagar railway station is the nearest railway station in the town. Moreover, you can also hire government owned and private owned buses, cars and taxis to reach at Jogeshwari Mata Mandir.
