Maharashtra Chaturshringi Temple
One of the most popular destinations of the city of Pune is the Chaturshringi Temple which is located on the foothills or rather on the slopes of a mountain at the Senapati Bapat Road.Chatursinghi literally translates to ‘a mountain with four peaks’. Standing majestically in the calm of the northwest part of the city, The Chaturshringi Temple is not only popular for sightseeing in Pune but is also a haven for believers who come here to express faith and belief. The temple is devoted primarily to the divine being of Goddess Chatursinghi ( often also known as Goddess Ambareshwar). Goddess Chaturshringi is well known far and wide to be the reigning Goddess of Pune and is worshipped here by thousands of devotees.
This glorious composition of the temple was constructed in the era of the great Maratha warrior and king ShivajiRao Bhonsle.Today, the historical Chaturshringi Temple in Pune is looked after by the ‘Chaturshringi Devasthan Trustees’who offer their full dedication to the goddess and her abode.
The holy temple soars up to a daunting height of 90 feet and a width of 125 feet that makes it a glorious and awe inspiring symbol of power, belief and undefeatable faith. The devotees exhibit their faith by climbing more than 100 steps from ground level to be able to reach the shrine of Goddess Chaturshringi.
History
The temple associates a legend to an erstwhile rich trader called Durlabh sheth Pitambardas Mahajan.The merchant was afervent believer of Goddess Chaturshringi and visited all her temples everywhere until he became old and was unable to carry out his pilgrimages. One night the Goddess Chaturshringi paid him a visit dream and said, "If you are unable to come up to me then I will come up to you & stay near you." She also guided him to a mountain situated in the North-West of Pune. When he dug the place as ascribed a miracle occurred and he found a statue of the goddess. He constructed the temple at that place and the same temple which was renovated time to time to reach its present state.

By Air

By Rail
Lying on the western and south western line of the Indian Railways, Pune has a good connectivity of trains from major cities that arrive at Pune at different hours.
By Road
Pune is situated very closely to Mumbai. The celebrated expressway links Mumbai to Pune in a matter of hours. Once in Pune several buses from Deccan and Malwad etc take you to the temple with ease.

Apart from the main temple of the goddess, The Chaturshringi Temple also houses the temples of Goddess Durga and even Lord Ganesha.
The compound also includes eight miniature idols of Ashtavinayaka. All these temples are scattered over 4 hillocks.
Weather And Time To Visit
Although Pune is blessed with a good weather round the calendar, the best time to visit the temple is during the month of October and November. During those months the temple is decorated with lights all over for the annual Navratara Fair and offers the best time to visit.

Tips for Devotees
The temple is based on a hill and hence stands at a daunting height over the surface level. One must be sufficient enough to climb the 100 plus fleet of stairs to reach the temple. If one is not physically fit enough to climb the stairs, One can also hitch a ‘palki’ or a ‘doli’ to reach the top.
