Kerala Shree Subramanya Swami Temple
The temple is well located in the beautiful area of Alapaddu, Kerala which is well connected with rail and road. The temple is established in AD 205. The location of the temple is a village Alapaddu where coconut palms are stretched along the coast. The temple has its own essence of purity and sacredness. Poojas are held on an ongoing basis.
History
Lord MURUGA is the presiding deity here. Lord Subramanya, son of lord Shiva and goddess Parvati was cursed by his father when he comit a mistake in childhood. He lived in the sea as "makara matsya" (fish). The fish troubled the villagers which were mainly fisher folks. Nobody was there to save them; not even the king. Suddenly, an old man, come from nowhere & went with the villagers to catch the fish. After long hours of struggle, the fish was trapped and when it was taken out the fish net, it turned out to be Lord Subramanya. That old man was Lord Shiva. The place where the giant fish was being shored, a temple has been built for lord Subramanya on that spot.
Significance
Village folks come every day to worship and offer flowers and milk. One supernatural thing revealed by the temple authorities is that every time when water is brought from river fish is always found in the water.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit the temple is once in a year of Ekadasi of Idavam or in the month of Ekadasi. Many events and poojas are held during this time. Many people take part in these events conducted by the temple authorities.
