The temple of Laxmi Narasimha has been built by the Hoysalas in the city of Bhadrvathi in Karnataka. The town where the temple is built got its name from river Bhadra that flows near to the temple complex. The Archaeological Department of the state of Karnataka is responsible for maintaining the temple. The temple was constructed in 13th century by the grandson of Vishnuvardhana named, Veera Narasimha.
The temple has been dedicated to Lord Narasimha who is also the avatar of Lord Vishnu. The idols of Lord Sri Krishna, Lord Purshottama, Lord Ganesha and Goddess Sharadamba are also housed in the complex of the temple.
Architecture
The temple has spectacular and deferential structure in its architecture. The podium on which the temple stands follows the Nakshatra type of style that stands on the podium that is almost three feet in its height. The exterior of the temple has a Dwajasthambam that is located in the outer walls of the temple compound. The temple also houses the three Gopurams that has also given the name Threekutachal to the temple. The walls of the temple have engravings that depict the architecture of Hoysala style.
