Karnataka Devarayana Durga
The area is a must-visit destination for both visitors as well as pilgrims. The mountain area is covered from all sides with abundant green trees. At the location, two Hindu temples are found – Bhoganarsimha and Yoganarasimha. The temple of Bhoganarasimha is situated at foothills while Yoganarasimha on hilltop. The area is not only famous for its natural beauty but also for its ancient’s temples.
History
The area wherein renowned Devarayana Durga temples are established was earlier called Anebiddasari and then as famous Jadakana Durga, named after king Jadaka. Finally it got its name Devarayana Durga when it was captured by Chikka Devaraja, a king of Mysore. According to local folklore, dacoit called Lingaka or Anchaka had his personal stronghold at this place. The rubber chief was however subdued by prince Sumati, son of Hemachandra, a king of reign Karnataka who ruled from local Yadupattana. It is said that having accomplished the given task, prince Sumathi set up Bhumandana town close to current Nelamangala area and built a palace here in order to protect the kingdom of his father.
However, under the dynasty of Hoysalas, there was also a hill town set up, named Anebiddasar. As per the legend, during Hoysala rule there was an elephant which was considered as Gandharva.
Moreover, under the renowned kings of Vijayanagar, a large size tank was built known as Bukkasamudra which originated from Jayamangali River. Visitors or pilgrims can still see the remains of its past glory.

By Road

By Rail or Train
Some of the nearest railway stations are Kyatsandra railway station only 10 km, Hirehali railway station 11 km and Tumkur railway station 14 km distance from Devarayana Durga temples.
By Air
Bangaluru international airport is the nearest airport located only 64 km far from Devarayana Durga temples area. Hence, from airport visitors or pilgrims can hire taxis, cabs and buses to reach at Devarayana Durga.
Weather and Time to Visit
Devarayana Durga has changeable climate conditions.
Summers – from April to July, during this period the temperature of the area ranges from 25 to 31 degree Celsius.
Monsoons – from August to October, during this period, the town experience great rainfall. Thus due to heavy rainfall, visitors or devotees avoid reaching at Devarayana Durga temples area.
Winters – from November to February, during this period, the temperature of the area ranges from 17 to 25 degree Celsius.
So the best time to visit at Devarayana Durga is from the month of November to February.
