Haryana Bhadra Kali Mata Temple
As per Hindu mythology, Maa Bhadra kali is one of the incarnations of Maa Durga, the goddess and Adi Shakti or fundamental energy of the universe. The meaning of Bhadra word in Sanskrit language is auspicious, blessed, fortunate, beautiful and prosperous. The goddess, Bhadra Kali is a form of Maa durga which shows her aggressive image.
History
According to the folklore, Pandavas kings, during their final battle with Kouravas, they worshiped Maa Bhadra Kali in order to win. Hence, Pandavas constructed a temple for Mata Bhadra kali after conquering Kouravas in Mahabharata war. The sacred shrine got its new spiritual look after being renovated with reddish stone. During the festival of Navaratri, devotees from all over the country visit at Bhadra kali Mata Mandir or temple to have Darshan and blessings of goddess. According to Hindu mythology, Maa Bhadra kali is a daughter of Lord Shiva, the creator and destroyer of the universe. As per legend, Mata Bhadra Kali can grant spiritual as well as supernatural powers to her devotees who worship her with pure heart.
How to Reach
By Road
Visitors or pilgrims who want to reach at Bhadra Kali Mata Mandir or temple by using road-transport can easily get buses , taxis and cabs across the city or state. However, visitors can also use the services of state Government-run buses.
By Rail
District Kurukshetra is well connected with all other important cities or towns of the state by railway networks. Hence, getting a suitable rail route is very easy for visitors or devotees. However, it should be remembered that during the festival of Navaratri, getting train to Kurukshetra might be difficult thus visitors need to book their ticket before coming at the shrine.
By Air
The nearest airport is Chandigarh airport only 70 km distance from district Kurukshetra. Hence, visitors can get direct flight to Chandigarh from various domestic airports in the country.
Weather and Time to Visit
Kurukshetra represents changeable climate conditions.
- Summers (April to June) are humid and hot with temperature rises up to 40 degree Celsius. Hence, visitors need to avoid visiting the shrine between May and June.
- Winters (November to February) are really cold with weather condition dropping down to 1 to 0 degree Celsius. Most of the time January is very foggy with huge fogs thus disrupting entire traffics.
- Monsoon usually comes in the month of July and offers good rain falls.
So the best time to visit is from October to March. However, devotees can also visit during the Navaratri festival.
