Gujarat Shree Darukeshwar Nageshwar Mahadev
The Nageshvara Jyotirlinga is the part of the 12 Jyotirlinga as mentioned in the Shiva Purana. This is the first Jyotirlinga amongst the total 12 Jyotirlinga. The shrines that have the common similarities between them are Nageshvara Jyotirlinga are Jageshwar temple near Almora, Nageshwara temple near Dwaraka and the he Nagnath temple in Aundha.
The main festival celebrated here is the Mahashivratri that is celebrated in the Nageshwar Temple.
The temple that stands here is very newly constructed. This latest temple has been constructed by Late Shri Gulshan Kumar. The work to build this temple started in the year 1996. The construction of the temple was completed in the year 2002 and the total cost to construct the temple was around Rupees 1.25 crores.
The temple consists of total three storey and has a huge statue of Lord Shiva in its vicinity. The total dimension of the statue is 125 feet in height and 25 feet wide.
The entrance of the temple is very simple. The entrance of the temple has a big hall also known as sabha mandap that has the stands to perform the puja. The vault of the temple has a Jyotirlinga in its sanctum. The size of the Jyotirlinga is huge and is a silver plated sanctum. There is snake commonly called as Nag made of silver is placed on the Jyotirlinga. There is also an idol of Goddess Parvati that is placed just behind the Jyotirlinga. The temple is constructed in the manner the temple is very well ventilated thus providing the devotees with the fresh air.
The Nageshwara Jyotirlinga is south facing while the Gomugham faces in the east direction. Story behind this is linked to Naamdev who singed bhajans of Lord Shiva in the temple. He was asked by the devotes in the temple to stand at a place where they can view the Lord as he was blocking their view to the Lord and he stood in the south east direction after which it is believed that the Gomugham faced in the south east direction.
As per the history is to be believed Lord Shiva is considered to be visited in the form of the Jyotirlingas that means the Lingam of Light. This Lingam is considered as the major source of energy and acts as an axis for all kinds of activities on the Earth.

By Rail
The nearest rail line to visit the Darukeshwar Mahadev Nageshwar temple is the Dwarka railway station. Thisstation is very well connected to other cities and states in India.
By Air
The nearest airport to reach Dwarka is in Jamnagar that is at a distance of 137 kms. Taxis can be hired from airport to reach Dwarka that costs around 1700 rupees. Daily flights ply to and fro from Mumbai to Jamnagar.
By Road
The city of Dwarka is very well connected to all the other major cities of the Gujarat via the state transport buses. There are various luxury coach buses that run from the various cities of Gujarat to reach Dwarka.
Weather and Time to Visit
The best time to visit the temple is in the months from October to March. The temperature varies from 28 degree Celsius to 32 degree Celsius in the summers while the winter temperature varies from 15 degree Celsius to 26 degree Celsius.
The average rainfall in the area is 358 cm.

There are various budgeted and luxurious hotels available in the vicinity of the Dwarka city that provides comfortable stay for the devotees. Many dharamshalas are also available near the temple for the stay of the devotees.
Tips for Devotees
- As per the traditional belief only male devotees are allowed to visit the premises of the temple to offer prayers to God.
- The prayers are offered in the Garbhagriha.
- The devotees have to wear dhoti while performing the Puja.
- Arti is performed early the morning at 5 AM and the temple doors are opened for the devotees at 6 AM.
- In the evening at 4 PM the devotees can watch the Sringar darshan in the temple.
- Am arti called saam arti is performed in the evening at 7 PM.
- The closing time for the temple is at 9 PM.
The devotees should keep these points in mind while there visit to temple.
