Andhra Pradesh Draksharama
Draksharama is the seat of Lord Shiva who is seated here in the form of Bhimeshwara Swami. Goddess Maniyambka is the consort of Lord Bhimeshwara and seated in this temple. According to local belief, this temple was a result of one night construction. Angles are said to be the constructor of this double storied temple. It is said that due to sunlight spread on earth, the construction work was stopped and since then some portion of this temple is remained unconstructed. Various efforts were put in since then to complete the unconstructed portion but all gone in vain. It is also a general belief in the local population that Sun God has established the large Shiva Lingam in this temple. Surrounding area of the temple is filled with sufficient greenery and forestry. Approach road is available to access this temple in any climatic condition.
History
As per official words, this temple was constructed in 800 AD but due to some political and geographical reasons, the completion delayed a long and work completed in 11th century. In between, this area also faced some natural calamities too. Around this temple, more than 108 Shiv Temples were also constructed in a long spell of time. In this area, various dynasties ruled for a long period and during the reign of various kings, the temple was supported a lot but complete construction could not be completed ever. It is believed that human interference in the work of angles is not liked by the god and thus the unconstructed portion of this temple is remained still as it was. It is said that one of the body parts of Rani Sati fell on this place and this place is become a Shakti Peeth since then. It is said that during invasion of Aurangzeb, all the jewels of the temple become stone and the emperor was amazed on the happening and power of the divine.
Architecture
Architecture of this temple is amazing as it was told to be constructed in one night. This double storied temple has some charming looks. Two layered wall has been provided to the temple but still ventilation procedure is too fine. Lighting and air passing is well designed. All the pillars inside the temple are beautifully carved. On the walls of the inner portion of this temple, various sculptures are present showing the rulers who ruled in the area and contributed towards development of this temple. Shiv Lingam established in this temple is made of crystal and 2.6 mtr high. World’s largest Shiva Lingam is established in this temple. The first ever better half of Lord Shiva, goddess Dakshayini is also in this temple. Inner portion of the temple is sufficient dark and the activities cannot be seen through naked eyes. Dual wall system was used to keep the jewels of this temple in safe custody. Inside the temple, there is a beautifully built another temple. Logic behind this small temple is that in future the height of human being will reduce and then this temple would be a huge building for mankind. Some people believe that this small temple is made for the small creatures that inhabited on earth.
Festivals
Mahashivaratri, Navaratrulu, Karthika Massam, Dhanurmassam are some of the main festivals organized in this temple. But most busy festival time is Mahashivaratri. People across the country reach here every year on this occasion.

This temple can be visited by three means of transportation available.
By Air
Rajamundary is the nearest airport located at 49 kilometers from this temple. From airport, easy and affordable road conveyances are available. Close to the airport, a taxi stand is available.
By Rail
Anaparti is the nearest railway station and connected by some of the major trains of broad gauge. Except this Balbhadrapuram and Dwarapudi are another railway station located at 24 and 25 kilometers respectively.
By Road
Draksharama bust station is the nearest one and needs only 6 kilometer road journey to reach this temple. State transport buses and private taxies are easily available from various parts of the state.
