Andhra Pradesh Bhattiprolu
Exact location of this temple is in Guntoor district of Andhra Pradesh. During 1892 excavations were done and the remains of this temple were revealed. Relics of Lord Buddha, ancient jewels were found during excavation. It was come to notice that the Stupa found under the soil, was wide enough and has a diameter of 40 meters. Around the Stupa base, and extra basement of 2.4 mtrs width also existed. Amazing fact of this Stupa was the finding of Crystal relic casket of Lord Buddha. The same was revealed from the main portion of the Stupa. In Buddhism, large stupas are called as Mahachaitya.Geographical coordinates for this temple is 16°6′N 80°46′E. This temple is well connected through rail and road transportation means. Hardly 15 minute drive is needed from Repalle to reach this temple.
Architecture
Internal structure of this temple is simply erected on large pillars. No tough carving is found as the entire Stupa was buried and some of the important architectural aspects lost. However excavation was done with entire peace safety and security and it was ensured that originality (as found) of the Stupa is not disturbed. Central Hall of the Stupa is based on large pillars. On the walls of central hall, various images of Lord Buddha and his preach are still sculptured. Stone with copper are used to make vessels are found in this Stupa. A gold casket is also found during excavation. Entrance of this Stupa is not according to the existing Buddha Stupas in India. Main entry gate has a small dome over it giving shape of a turned boat. Passage towards central hall is sufficient wide and even five persons can travel at a time in single file formation. Lighting arrangements were done with the help of Chandeliers but only signs of the arrangement are present as burial of entire building erased the actual fitments.

Lot of attractions is present in surrounding areas of this Stupa. Shorter distance from the Bhattiprolu Stupa is also the major reason of visiting, as under:-
- Amravati: This place is well known for Stupas and located at 32 kilometers from this location. In this town an Archeological museum is also located.
- Bapatla Beach: This beach is located at a distance of 7 kilometers from Guntoor district.
- Undavalli Caves: 4th or 5th Century old caves are located in this town. This place is located at 13 kilometers distance from Guntoor.
How to Reach
By Air
Reaching is also possible but Chennai International Airport is the nearest one. Another local airport is located in Gannavarm in Vijayawada district is also useable but doesn’t have good air traffic.
By Rail
Reaching is easy as this temple is located on Guntoor-Repalle rail line. This station is located at 11 kilometers distance from the temple.
By Road
Transportation is also in good condition. APSRTC buses and private taxies are also available at affordable charges. National Highway No 214A is well connected through this temple.
