Kanyakumari district is located in the southern side of Tamil Nadu state. Kanyakumari is also known as Kanniyakumari or Kanniakumari district. It is the second smallest district among all the 32 districts of Tamil Nadu state. It is bounded by kerala state on the west, Indian Ocean on the south, Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu on the east and North, Bay of Bengal on the Southern east, and Arabian Sea on the souther west. It is located between 77° 15' and 77° 36' of the eastern longitudes and 8° 03' and 8° 35' of the northern Latitudes.

The climatic conditions of this district are quite bearable. During summer season the temperature can maximum increase up to 27° C (81 °F). In winter season the temperature can decrease up to 16°C (61 °F). Whereas, the district average rainfall 1,485mm (57.7 in) is measured.

Kanyakumari has several places to visit for tourists some are included as,

• Kanyakumari Bagavathiamman Temple: Kanyakumari name was derived from the Goddess Kanyakumari Amman.
• Mahatma Gandhi Memorial: The memorial was also named as the memorial Father of the Nation.
• Thiruvalluvar Statue: The immortal poet of Tamil Nadu is the Thiruvalluvar. The statue is of 95 feet tall with 38 feet height of pedestal and thus, a grand total of 133 feet for the entire sculpture.
• Fountain of Kanyakumari: it is situated in the district to attract all the tourist people.
• Kamarajar Manimandapam: Kamarajar was a freedom fighter and a Former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. This monument was built and dedicated to Late Sri Kamarajar.
