West Bengal
There were lots of music genres in the Bengali music that are named as Bangla Rock, Nazrul Geeti, Baul, Kirtan, Shyama Sangeet, Bishnupuri Classical, Rabindra Sangeet, Atulprasadi, Kantageeti, Ganasangeet, Dwijendrageeti, Atulprasadi, and Adhunik Gaan etc. The main center of the Nepali Rock music is the city of Darjeeling with the lots of Nepali people lived there.
Bishnupur Gharana
One sole gharana of Bengal in classical music is the Bishnupur Gharana. The Malla Kings musicians originates the Bankura and Bishnupur. The father of gharana of Bishnupur is the Bahadur Khan from Delhi who is also the Tansen descendant. Ragunath Sinha II brought the Bahadur Khan to the Bishnupur.
Baul sangeet
In the country, lots of musical and singer groups were famous that is named as Bauls. They used to perform with the dotara, ektara, and khamak.
Rabindra Sangeet
Lots of Bengali songs were composed and written by the Rabindranath Tagore and named as Tagore songs. These songs are quite famous in the Bangladesh and India. Rabinda Sangeet here means the Rabindranath Tagore songs.
There were lots of folk music and classical music in the sangeet of Rabindra. Rabindranath Tagore had wrote about 2230 of songs.
Collection composition
All the Rabindranath Tagore songs collection is mainly famous as the ‘Gitabitan’. This book has main 6 parts named as Prem that is love, Prakriti that is nature, Swadesh that is patriotism, aanushthanik that is celebration, puja that is worship, and Bichitra that is diverse.
Shyama Sangeet
This type of sangeet is devoted to the Kali or Shyama through the devotional songs. Other name of this sangeet is Shaktigiti.
This type of Sangeet represents the love care among the child and mother so it is more appealing towards the relationship. Through this Sangeet, worships and tantra also used.
Nazrul Geeti
This form of music is named after the name of Kazi Nazrul Islam who was a poet of Bengal and also he was the activist at the time of movement of independence of India. The themes of the Nazrul sangeet are philosophical, romantic, and spiritual.
Jeebonmukhi
This is a kind of new genre in the music of Bengal. Jibonmukhi gaan means ‘songs about life’. This type of genre described the routine life of the people and songs were written by the Suman Chattopaddhay. The footsteps of the Suman were followed by the famous artists that are Shilajit Majumdar, Anjan Dutt, and Nachiketa Chakraborty.
