Meghalaya

The music of Meghalaya shows the cultural heritage as it has the theme of love and holy touch that enhances or relaxed all the worries and hardness of life.  The songs and dances were more prominent in the festivals arranged in Meghalaya that really lighten the mind and soul of the person.

The inspiration of the music originates from the natural beauties like lakes, water falls, hills etc.  The Khasis and Jaintias communities have their own individuals that spent their life with the passion of music.

The main portion of the music in Meghalaya is motivated by the individual named Khasis in the form of ‘Phawar'.  The lyrics of this form of song is depends upon the occasion description. These songs described the history of the people who sacrifice their lives for the country, their past, and ballad etc. some of the instruments also make this music more precious and melodious like Ksing Kynthei and Ksiang Shynrang.   More instruments like drums and keys also gives more contribution to the music of the Meghalaya.

Music of the Meghalaya become more desirable with the addition of the instruments like Duitara, Besli, Kising Padiah, Tangmuri, Shaw Shaw, and Nakra.
