Regional Classic Folks Music

Maharashtra

Maharashtra is basically a state of festivals including songs, dance, and music.  If one can talk about the music of the Maharashtra, then saint poetry, folk songs, and Natya Sangeet were also remembered. Gwalior is the base of the start of the classical music of Maharashtra and literature of Marathas were shown in the music of the Maharashtra.  District of Sangli has the Miraj town, which is popularly called as the “musical town”.  The world popular instrument Sitar is also manufactured in this town.  The daily life of the Maharashtra is shown in the form of folk songs.  Some of the popular folk songs are tamasha, nautanki, and lavani.  Some of the performer of these arts were incredible that are not found anywhere. Some of the popular saint poets are Jani, Dnyandev, Soyara, Tukaram, and Namdev.  These saint poets believed in Dnyana with Bhakti. The main aim of these saints were to make the people believe in God.

Folk Music

To entertain the folk music in Maharashtra, Povada and Lavani were the famous one.  To cheer the farmers, there is a song sung named Bhaleri in the field of farming. At the time of harvesting, they sung the song specially to motivate the farmers.  To the describe the dawn of sasural that is husband’s home and maika that is women’s home, a song owi is sung by the women of village.  In the marriage occasion, the ceremonies like Ghana and halad were cheered by the song sung by Suvasinis.  To make the child sleep, there is a lullaby named Palana in the state of Maharashtra.  For the protection from the diseases like plaque and smallpox, a folk song is used to sung by the people named Artya.

In Maharasthra for the entertainment of communities, lots of other forms of singing were found like Tumbadi, Gondhal, Kirtan, Bhajan, Abhangas, Bharud, and Lalita.  The various other forms of folk music were Tamasha, Pvadas, Lalita, Gondhal, and Lavani in the state of Maharashtra.

Natya Sangeet

In Maharasthra, the main form of music is Natya Sangeet.  This sangeet is the form of stage music.  This form of music is represented as a semiclassical form but basically it is a classical form.  This music is in companion with the classical and old musical style with different changes of rhythms.  Having sync with vocals, the composition was rivets by the instrumentation music in background. The master of Natya Sangeet is Narayanrao Rajhauns, who is also commonly called as Bal Gandharava.  He is only person who developed the classical music in the root of Natya Sangeet.  For his contribution to the field of music, the musical theater of Maharashtra also obliged this maestro.
