Sawai Madhopur district is situated to the northeast of Jaipur in Rajasthan state. Sawai Madhopur town lies in the hills of vindhyas and Aravali ranges. It was founded by Sawai Madho Singh-1 of Jaipur in the year 1765 A.D and was named after him. The most famous National park known as Ranthambore that is located in Sawai Madhopur district. It is called the hunting place of Maharajas of Jaipur.

The total area of Sawai Madhopur district is covered under rural and urban regions up to 5042.99 sq. km. The district stretches between North Longitude 25°-45' to 26°-41' to East Longitude Between 75°-59' to 77°-0'.

The district is surrounded by Tonk district to the east, Kota district on the southwest, Bundi district on the southeast, Dausa district on the north, karauli district on the northwest and west the Chambal river and across it Madhya Pradesh state.

Sawai Madhopur district’s climatic condition in summer season is highest and raises to a maximum of upto 45° Celsius. During winter season the temperature decreases to minimum of 4° Celsius. While in monsoon season the average rainfall is measured up to 873.40mm.
