Kota district is one of the districts in the state of Rajasthan in western India. The city of Kota is the administrative headquarters for Kota district. It is an educational center and well known for its IIT JEE preparation. The district is also known as being Asia’s biggest manufacturer of fertilizers.

Kota district is surrounded by Baran district on to the east, Bundi district on the north, Chittorgarh district on the west side and Jhalawar district on south. On the bank of Chambal river Kota district is situated. It developed as an important centre for industries. The district has four power stations that are surrounded within 50km radius namely are:

• Rajasthan Atomic Power Plant
• Kota Thermal Power Station
• Anta Gas Power Plant
• Jawahar Sagar Power Plant

Earlier in the 12 century A.D. Bundi and Hadoti were founded by Chieftain, Rao Deva who conquered the territory. In 17th century AD Rao Ratan Singh who was the king of the Bundi, gave his son a small portion of the kingdom. This came into being as today’s Kota.

In history way back 800 years ago, Kotya Bhil a warrior who built a small fortification or (barricade) at akelgarh and erected a protective mud-wall all the way to Retwali. Later in 1580, again both the fortification and mud-wall was strengthened by Rao Madho Singh. Today Kota achieved the symbol of Rajput culture and power as well.
